É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University is pleased to announce the 2018-19 competition to become a É«¿Ø´«Ã½-RTI Scholar

Overview

The É«¿Ø´«Ã½-RTI Scholars Program provides funding for distinguished RTI researchers to spend scholarly leave time at É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University, to actively collaborate with É«¿Ø´«Ã½ faculty. É«¿Ø´«Ã½ will provide one-half of each Scholar’s salary, and fringe (it is anticipated that each É«¿Ø´«Ã½-RTI Scholar will spend 50 percent time at É«¿Ø´«Ã½, for one year). The goal of the program is to foster collaboration and catalyze opportunities for externally funded, joint research projects in the future.

General Qualifications

The ideal É«¿Ø´«Ã½-RTI Scholar is an RTI researcher with a commitment to collaboration and a strong research record in a field that is compatible with É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University.

Working Environment

É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University provides a stimulating environment for collaborative research. Scholars are expected to serve most of their residency at É«¿Ø´«Ã½ at our Durham, NC campus. Successful applicants will be provided with a workspace, É«¿Ø´«Ã½ email address, access to IT support, and use of all library resources.

Selection Criteria

An interdisciplinary panel of É«¿Ø´«Ã½ faculty and administrators will review submissions. Major considerations in the evaluation process include the likelihood that the residency will result in collaborative work of significance and alignment with É«¿Ø´«Ã½â€™s research, mission, and priorities.

Application Instructions

Applications should be submitted as a single PDF file and should have one-inch margins with font size of at least 11 points. Complete applications will include the following:

•              Cover letter (one page)

•              Proposal (maximum 1,000 words): Describe the proposed collaborative research project; include the name and title of the É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University faculty host(s).

•              Budget: Proposed budget that explicitly delineates the approximate amount of support requested from É«¿Ø´«Ã½ University (salary, fringe, and any other costs).

•              Full curriculum vitae (no limit on length)

•              Letter of support from É«¿Ø´«Ã½ host faculty

•              Letter of support from applicant’s RTI supervisor

Fellowships start on October 1, 2018 and end on September 30, 2019. Please submit completed applications to cfreel@duke.edu by 5 pm on January 11, 2018. Scholars will be announced on or around May 1, 2018.
